I think we're in the minority. Everyone I talk to in college is set on being an analyst or investment banking and I can't understand why. It seems like such a boring, quiet, dragging job. I have one more year of college left also and will do anything to get onto a trading desk. The real question is how difficult is it to move from the entry level to a full fledged trader? Are there a ton of people who drop by the wayside? And what is the pay like as a traders assistant? It's got to be better than being a sales assistant. I have an offer to come back as a sales assistant for a BB firm but its a dead end job and the pay is terrible so I'd rather look for something else right now, but is it worth it? |

Just a question to the previous poster. You say a sales assistant is a dead-end job, my understanding was that it was where everyone started out and eventually (hopefully) moved their way up. I'm also interested in S&T and can't understand WHY people want to become analysts. Right now i'm looking for a school-year S&T position but don't expect a decent position, but that doesn't bother me.
