Hi gastrader,
Thanks a lot for all the help you have given me so far.
I was hoping to pick your brain once again.
I do not have any city contacts (understandable since I'm coming from a medical background).
What do you think is the best way for me to network and approach people in IB and healthcare/life science PE/VC.
Alot of people at PE and VC (Managing directors, etc) have their e-mail addresses on company websites. Should I e-mail then and tell them I'm a medical doctor looking to enter IB/PE/VC (Should I attach my CV).
Or would it be better to stick with HR and contact them.
What do you think. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks once again.

Contact them directly (NOT HR). Instead of a CV just explain your medical experience and education how your knowledge will add value to the firm.
Also, you should contact Zaki Ahmed, he's a City recruiter that should be able to help you (he's placed a couple people into pharmaceutical equity research positions). His contact info: zaki.ahmed@oxbridge-group.com or 020 7812 6890.
