gastrader, i am a senior interested in energy trading at a hedge fund. i have an offer for the energy strategy at citadel, and am also interviewing with DE Shaw. Since you're very familiar with the industry, id appreciate any perspective you could give me on both shops. i prefer the people i have met at citadel, and their 4 month trading program, but am also partial to living in new york. thanks. |

Both are fine shops...both very quant oriented. Forget about your locational preferences, go to the best opportunity, even if that means some small town in the middle of nowhere.
If I were you I would accept the Citadel offer and further investigate Shaw. What happens if Shaw doesn't make you an offer? Don't leave the Citadel offer on the table!
