Anyone who is under the impression that discussing compensation with collegues is obviously a bean counting desk jockey with little experience in today's marketplace. Punctuating this notion is the comment, "You should report it,..." This "report your co-worker" ideal is the kind of government employee attitude that makes enemies out of coworkers. Word of advice, don't look for work in the Internet industry, especially in the SF area, as you will be quickly turned into roadkill for those around (and above) you. |

I think you forgot a couple word in your first sentence. I think you wanted it to read, "Anyone who is under the impression that discussing compensation with collegues is IN POOR TASTE IS obviously a bean counting desk jockey with little experience in today's marketplace."
Now then, I agree. Whomever wrote the email about it being "tacky" should work for the DMV.
