In Reply To: I'm considering an entry level position in fundraising (annual giving) with a small liberal arts university. I am appalled by how LOW (low 20's) the salary is, and am wondering what equivalent positions earn? Or where I could find such information? Thanks.
Message: This sounds like a normal range salary for this type of position at a university. Most universities and colleges pay on the very low end of the scale for any job they offer in entry level, junior and middle management. For example, I was offered a job as an associate dean of XYZ at a liberal arts college, and I would have been making a good $15-25k less than comperable jobs in the private sector. The universities I've spoken to do not have a lot of flexibility when it comes to salaries, and they know it. They try to sell their benefits, which can often be better than those found in the private sector.
