In Reply To: It is true that the top banks do recruit at UCLA. They recruit at a lot of schools, but that doesn't mean they higher a lot of people. You need to look at each school's placement report, which should give you your answer. Given the negative outlook of the U.S. economy, I would go to the best b-school you can. The thing to remember is that banking is a numbers game. For example, if 200 people want to do banking at Wharton, and 100 people at Wharton get banking jobs, your odds are much better than being at a school where 100 people want to do banking, but only 20 people get BB offers. Having lived in Los Angeles before, I understand your desire to live there, but for your career, I would choose Kellogg over UCLA. Even if you want to work in California post MBA, Kellogg will carry a lot of weight. Furthermore, if you want to work in L.A., my own observations were that USC grads had more opportunities than UCLA grads. This was only true for working in L.A.
