I'm also an account manager at an Internet design company. It's been 3 months, and I already feel restless to move on to a Project Management position.
Yet, what I'd like to know is what type of skills are required to move into the position? I know I may a bit premature to think I'm ready, therefore, I'm hoping that these message boards will give me an idea as to how much entry-level web related project managers know and have skills in when they take the job.
p.s. I know this is the wrong board to post this question, and I apologize for the intrusion. However, the topic was on, and I coudln't find another, more helpful list. |

I am an engineering project manager and what gives you the boost out of the 50K range to the 70-80K range is plain and simple. Years of exceptional technical knowledge and a certification by the Project Management Institute. The only thing that will give you the high salary is lots of experience managing SUCCESSFUL projects and a head for business.
I have done very well at it. Experience matters. So does patience.
