In Reply To: My former manager now has a fairly high rank at a new company, which has a much more promising future than the company I currently work for. I have a well rounded knowledge of web development and currently make mid-40k. Though I??ve only really mastered html, I also do work in Access, vbscript and asp. Since the this new company is located in a slightly higher rent district, would it be totally out of the question to ask for mid-50k? Should I ask for a 5-10k signing bonus or a yearly bonus? How about tuition expense (5K a year)? Should reimbursement for relocation be a given? Also my final gpa is only around 2.5. Since my manager did not even attend college, should I worry about my low grades?
Message: It would help to know where you live. $50,000 might be achievable in Bay area, but insane in Vancouver. You should work on some true programming skills if you want to jump up the payscale ladder.
