In Reply To: I started a research job at a consulting company a little more than 18 months ago. I do great work (not my words!!) and was promoted to associate 9 months ago. But my salary was increased 20% to the high 30's. New associates that get hired are receiving starting salaries in the low to mid 60's. I told my boss that I felt that I deserved to be paid like my associate peers - he said his hands were tied - he would not be able to get an 80% raise approved. He has increased my salary since my promotion, but I still make about 30% less than newly-hired associates. I am getting tired of having to ask for more money every 3 months - do I have a legitimate beef or should I shut up and be grateful that my boss is increasing my salary? Or should I test my theory of "outside applicants" and get my raise from another job?
Message: ...you are getting shafted BIGTIME. Get up and leave. now. because all those "pats on the back" are probably followed by a snicker or two, after your back is turned.
