I'm a straight A student and I don't think Havard, Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth, etc. is out of reach. Provided I keep my grades where they are of course.
Besides IB, are there any close seconds in terms of careers I should look at as close seconds. Perhaps other tracks that are just about as lucrative and prestigious. I just to explore as many worthwhile options as possible and learn as much as possible about different careers before I go to college.
By the way, thank you for your reply. What is your background if I may ask?
Regards. |

Sorry if my reply came off a bit 'anti-ivy league.' I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't get in.
However, keep in mind that it takes A LOT more than straight A's to gain admission.
If you're not already, I STRONGLY advise you to play a sport or two. Also, get involved in community service/volunteer projects. Believe me, you won't stand a chance if you don't.
I was admitted into Yale, Penn & Columbia, but I chose to attend a school were I'd be the 'majority' rather than the 'minority.'
I am a senior finance major and I attend a historically black college in Mississippi (I'm originally from Wisconsin). Though I am not interested in IB, some of my best friends are IB's with Lehman Bros. & JP Morgan. Upon graduating in May, I will be taking a job as a Financial Analyst with IBM Global Services.
Best of Luck to you in college and beyond. I hope you gather all the info you seek regarding other careers in finance. You seem very 'motivated,' so I'm sure you'll do well.
FYI:
Try posting a question or two on the IB message board. There are a lot of ignorant & arrogant people that may respond, but don't let them fade you.
