I've been with my company for five years and have had 3different positions within a particular group. I am looking for a career change within the company and want to know if I still need to post my previous job history with a nonrelated firm? How far back should this resume go and for an internal resume is this needed? |

Several suggestions: 1) If you are applying for a posted internal position, check with HR and/or a manager in the target department to determine what is expected/preferred; 2) If you are marketing yourself for a non-posted opportunity, ask around to research the profile of a competitive candidate for the position in the target department/group. Once you know the hiring criteria (and any preferred resume format), you will be in a stronger position to decide what related accomplishments to include in your resume. If you have impressive accomplishments from previous employers, by all means include them. The key is the relevance of the accomplishments to your target position. It is possible to have relevant skills from a non-related firm. Good luck.
