You know I had to grin when I read this. It's this kind of belligerent crap from HR morons on a " do good " crusade to enhance futility that really made me start my own company in the first place.
Every potential employee has every right to play the counter offer game. It shows insight and a keen business sense of what they are worth. 99% of companies won't pay a person what they're worth and you know it.
It's a free market. You don't have problems with the price your stock makes on the stock market now do you ?
You are an unbelieveble bigot, if I was your CEO and I heard this story you would be CANNED big time.
Disgustingly tight labor market ? and how did it get there pray tell ? By people with your exact same attitudes not supplying training or a hospitable work environment.
I doubled my Salary every year in the high tech arena before I started my own company, I held each company to ransom, demanded full certification training on whatever took my interest, CCIE, MCSE, SCO ACE, CNE etc. etc.
In fact I made it a contractual condition. I used to get walked all over and get paid a pittance before I turned mercenary and I have never looked back since.
Every time I added a certification I demanded a 100% raise. And you know what I always got it, but I was also offered more by CEO's who were intrigued as to my personal demenour and ability to convince clients to part with big dollars.
If you've got it and you're damn good you will not believe what they will actually pay you.
Just because for once you actually have to work for a living and not have potential employee's fall begging into your lap, don't you dare crush some hapless person out to get as much as he can to have a better life for himself.
As you said, no pay no play, you did not get to play. How do you know what your attitude actually cost or saved your company ? Who made you GOD ? |

Spare us your bullshit Mr. Ceo. You sound very hostile for someone who has made it "big". What are you the CEO of? Larry's Home Computer Repair? If I had a candidate who demanded the things you did, I would kick them out the door. So many of you suck anyway. And I love contractors who try and play games. You guys are nothing but tactical pieces of crap. Your the same guys who come back a year later after your skillset has cooled off with your hat in hand.
