I just had an experience with a recruiter whose husband threatened to kill me after I turned down an offer received from a STUPID company that they "connected" me with.
After turning down the offer I was harassed by the hiring company and the recruiters. They were quick to call me "unprofessional", "rude" and believe it or not "desparate". HELLO?
These recruiters were no different than PIMPS - they are the scum of the earth. And with the internet developing the way it is in the areas of employment hopefully they will all go out of business and be forced to GET A REAL JOB! Then we'll see who's got the POWER!

Always nice to see this thread alive and evolving, sure wish the title, catching though it may be, would mature.
I'm a Human Resource Manager, and do not feel like the scum of the earth. Although, I can see them from here!
Both of my favorite gals have had the misfortune of dealing with unscrupulous TECHNOPIMPS. In fairness, if the concept applies, recruiters are the used car salesman of the re-employment sector of our society. They only get paid when they produce. Therefore, the emphasis is on production, not quality.
If they make you uncomfortable, stay the hell away from them. They are going to tell you what you want to hear in order to get to sell you, your mind, body and soul. That is no way to live or be treated. As you well may know.
So do I have a point or advice? Not really, just trying to keep the thread alive and interesting.
