In Reply To: Well, it's funny that you ask because just this morning I had a Manager candidate back out on me that was supposed to start in two weeks. Two months of work down the drain!! I had another candidate fail our background check because she falsified information on her employment application. Why do people still do this? The must know that any reputable company is going to conduct a background check.
Message: I feel your pain on this one. Last week we had a candidate scheduled to start a job and she didn't show up on the start date...no phone call, no nothing...just didn't show. Now, of course, we are still giving her the benefit of the doubt and have concerns that something serious has happened to either her or her family, BUT...not even one 30 second phone call???? And we haven't heard from her since?? We're praying she's not seriously injured and/or worse...deceased. This would be the only reason, as far as we can see, why she wouldn't just make a quick phone call to let us know why she was a "no show". Unfortunately, this is a bad reflection on us, but when you're in the business of dealing with People...anything can happen...and I mean anything. Some people can be incredibly unreliable, wishy-washy, rude or irresponsible and that is one of the downfalls of being in this business. Short of going to their homes on the morning of their first day to make sure they are showered and in the car heading to their committment, there is nothing we can do but pray they will show up. Honesty is another issue.... Just curious...why did she fail the background check? Was it education?
