In Reply To: These folks are really a bunch of losers. I don't know how they manage to stay in business. A lady from this bork firm calls me and speaks to me about my credentials. She talks about a client and wants to submit my resume and asks for it. I sent it and then an hour later, she calls back and says that she feels that I will be an excellent fit but they want someone contract to hire. I tell her that I do only contract. Then she comes up with this gem - Tell them you will go contract to hire and then you can quit after the contract period so that we can make our money. Next, she asks me to tell the company that I am a fulltime employee of the bork firm so that the client doesn't cut their commission for just pulling my resume off the internet. Finally, she says this that was the proverbial last straw : I can only forward your resume if you give a committment not to take up any other job. In other words, if the client likes you, you have to accept the offer. OBVIOUSLY, I ASKED HER TO FO.
Message: First it's a straight contract, then it's contract-to-hire. Oh, oh, that's the old Bait and Switch. Oh that's very naughty. Then, she wants you to agree to contract-to-hire but quit. Well, now, isn't she asking YOU to deceive them? Next - you are supposed to LIE to the client and tell them you are an FTE to provide the proper image for the bork? Too much man! Same shit - different day. Just another tale of sleaze. If you listen to those "innocent" recruiters who come in here and bullshit up a storm, they ALWAYS claim we are just guys with crappy attitudes that get in the way of us attaining meaningful work. Why do they always throw that mud at us? You'd think they would try a new insult by now.
