It's impossible to ignore the fact that most companies are not doing as well now, as they had been in the recent past. As of late, I've heard quite a few horror stories about offers being reneged by companies. Sometimes the offers are rescinded before they are in writing, and sometimes they are rescinded even after the candidate has signed on the dotted line. Whats the protocol for reneging an offer? What can a candidate/future employee due to prevent his or her offer from being rescinded? and whats the next step if you actually do lose your offer (besides DUH start looking again)? Is the company legally responsible to compensate? |

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. Unless you signed a contract, the firm can recind their offer at any time, just as you can recind your acceptance. I suppose if you quit a job to start the new one, you may have a case to sue for the lost wages. I would refer that question to a lawyer.
