They are big on affirmative action preferences in promotion and tenure.
A "C" average worker that is in the affirmative action group ("voluntary" profile questionaire) are normally protected from lay off also find it easiest/fastest to be promoted.
And, white males have to do everyone else's work as well as their own.
They mostly lay off "popular" white males, irregardless of performance, so as to scare the other workers into working harder.

I have been at Raytheon for nearly 4 years now and have never seen any layoffs. Even when contracts have been cut, they have worked hard to find placement for everyone.
Yes the company is very very big on Diversity of its employees, but I have not seen white males not promoted. If you look at the Presidents of each business, most are white males, as well as vice presidents of organizations.
