My background - mostly provider, a lot of revenue cycle work, market feasibilty and growth potential analysis, and financial advisory work on hospital turn around projects. I have also done some claims processing analysis on the payor side, and some billing systems analysis for large HMOs.
Location - Chicago
Targeted projects - I was considering 'large' projects to mean the type of healthcare projects currently dominated by ACN and Deloitte. My understanding was that PwC, along with Navigant, and a few others targeted a niche clientle that focuses more on smaller, strategic projects. That's just what I was told - please correct me if i've been misinformed.
Appreciate any info...

I'm going to owe my buddy a bottle of cheap wine for these answers.
Provider and payor background - you're in good shape. If they were smart, they'd be using you for lots of business development activities.
I'm sure that there is some niche projects going on, we just don't hear about it.
In Chicago, there's BCBS going on but that's hardly small or niche. With this latest research paper out Health somethingoranother addressing the next ten years of where the health care industry is going...it's always possible that they're going in that direction.
I can't remember if you've started or are just interviewing or are just thinking of PWC as an option.
Healthcare aside, there are some decent folks in the Chicago office.
