In Reply To: i have been with my current company for a yr and it hasnt gone well at all. So i started lookng elsewhere and landed a job at pwc. However pwc requests three references and one must be from my current company. Now im sure if they contact my current supervisor, they will get less than a stellar reference. Will pvc revoke my job offer as a result? what do you guys think???
Message: You're not offering up your former supervisor as a reference, are you? Even though they want someone from your last company, I don't think they require it to be your supervisor. Also, ethically, and perhaps legally, your supervisor may not/can't comment on your performance. I know at my last position prior to PWC, I had a staff reporting to me and ALL - yes ALL - requests for references for past employees had to go through HR. HR, of course, would give a pat answer of - yes they worked here, yes that was there title, and that's it. At my company, they wouldn't even confirm salary.
