In Reply To: After interviewing with PWC, I already think that I'm not suited for all the long hours, travel and butt kissing. Did anyone have these doubts before they signed on and ended up loving it? I just don't want to make a commitment and be totally unhappy.
Message: First, if you're a person who relies a great deal on your gut, you'd be wise not to ignore your reaction. If it's the reverse, then put it into perspective. Second, for individuals right out of college, PWC is (and others like it) a fantastic opportunity to learn the ropes. Where I've seen difficulties is with those who have had several years experience under their belts elsewhere. The environment and culture can take some getting used to. It will vary, of course, by the partners in charge and the group you join however, my experience has been that those who have moved up the internal food chain, seem to have much greater weight than someone who comes in at the same level from the outside. Third, the two year rule is right on the mark. The other comments made about the people and the work are also right on the mark. It comes down to what opportunities you have before you. I sincerely hope that PWC isn't your only option. Not because I'm bashing my place of billing and livelihood. But because when you only have one option, you tend to have clouded judgement. In this case, if you don't have any options and you do get hired by PWC, you'll probably have that nagging feeling in the back of your head - i.e. doubts, what-if's, etc...
