management consulting services is not compatible with auditing these days. However, my understanding of the grand plan post-IBM was that the Advisory practice would be built up and expanded within the allowable (quasi-audit/controls and consulting, SOX), etc. boundaries until the non-compete expired, further invested in, further expanded, and then spun off. So this makes complete sense to me.
