I am interviewing with PI this coming week. What exactly is its deal as far as the company goes? Is it a fairly separated unit?
What EXACTLY do they do? The position description made it sound like Ops and strategy consulting.
Any info would be great. |

PI is a general, catch-all group in my opinion. Many types of advisory projects fall into this category. Sometimes they are operational focus (like improving something specific in IT or Marketing or Sales). Sometimes projects are about implementing new products within an existing department or area.
Like I said, a very general, catch-all category.
Strategy consulting is very far-stretching in my opinion. The people who handle Mergers and Acquisitions are more strategic but then again, they focus mostly on numbers and legal issues.
I have generally found the PI group to contain the same types of people and issues as other groups so if this is your calling, it's no worse than other parts of the organization.
