Did you leave WFP and into another practice? Or, did you leave all together?
I'd like to join PwC, but been told that I can only go to WFP, and potentially transfer a few years later. Is this possible?

Anything's possible, reasonably likely is an entirely different story; I was around long enough to figure that out. Just to be honest, this is not meant in any way as a slam on WFP, but IMHO leaving the WFP to transfer into another practice is often fairly/quite difficult. It is somewhat easier if you are leaving the Metro DC area altogether, but still usually not a trivial exercize. Also, keep in mind that much of the work in WFP is very specialized to the Federal Government and may well not be recognized as translatable, desirable, or valuable experience to other groups within the Firm, or even to other organizations outside the DC Metro area. If you spend too long you'll risk getting typecast as a Federal person. Granted, that can happen in any industry, but the Feds are so out there in the way they do many things that the hurdle quickly becomes much higher than it might be with other industry areas - also many industries aren't so notably concentrated in one relatively small geograpical area. Lastly, IMHO, never accept or at least take with a pound (not a pinch) of salt any statements anyone makes about "potential transfer opportunities". Even in the unlikely event you could get such a statement in writing, no one can reliably predict more than a few months out (at most) what the future staffing needs of another practice will be or whether or not your skills & experience are likely to fit those needs, etc. Also, after a while, your experience will become sufficiently valuable to the WFP that potential transfers are often addressed with the frightening words "transition period". I've seen a "reasonable transition period" interpreted to mean anything from from many weeks to several months. Lesson there being that even if you can find a transfer opportunity that is a great fit, don't necessarily expect you'll be allowed to pursue it in anything like a quick time frame. Best Wishes.
