Never worked for me.
I made sure I did a great job, was very good at whatever I was doing. I even tried to give progressive advice that would have enhanced the department's and company's potential.
But somehow, there would always be some creepy person who would conspire to mess with my situation (hurting them also in the process, by the way). I was wondering if you could provide insight into my problem. |

I was waiting for someone to raise this issue. Here's the deal, in my humble opinion. I've talked about what management looks for when interviewing, well, you should be looking for similar things when seeking a new position. YOU are responsible for not accepting a job with a person and/or company that you perceive as being less than honest, run by schmucks or lacks opportunity. If you end up in such a position, "fire THEM". That is, learn by your experience and move on. If you continually fall into these situations and your resume begins to look like a job hopper, bite the bullet and stay put for a longer period so as to now get screwed by the job hopper image. Also, take a close look at yourself. It's you who is making the bad employment decisions not the "schmucks" that hired you! If you can't tell the good from the bad when being hired, how can you expect to be placed in a management position where you're doing the hiring and will likely make equally bad decisions? Hmmmm!
