You have a law degree and you want to become a programmer? The starter of this thread has 5 years of BA experience and wants to become a programmer?
Folks, this is not 1999 any more. Companies aren't paying 6 figure salaries to 24 year olds with a CS degree and 2 years of Java coding experience any more. The IT field is FLOODED with out of work people willing to take any job for a fraction of their former salary. Anyone looking to get out of law or business and into programming is out of their mind. The gold rush is over. |

IT field is crawling with all sorts of people..
It is a truly globalized field where it practically doesn??t matter where you come from
You would be up against competition from India,China where the salary are a fraction of the west..
Furthermore, quality is not as critical as say in investment banking so the competition is very much focus on price.. Simply bad news??
Do your calculations properly..
