I would recommend doing something along the lines of the PMP (Project Management Professional). That is a certification worth having. Don't try and get into encoding too much as it'll devalue the MBA value add you bring to a situation. Certifications per se and by themselves don't mean much. They are more for those positions where the employer knows he'll get upwards of a few hundred resumes and the certification helps the hr rep to weed out people. Stay away from the certification bandwagon if you can. Try and broaden your technology and especially databases experiences - DB2, SQL Server - you have great experience already and the breadth of technology can add a lot of value to a consulting situation. Stress the project management and making things happen aspect. |

I have one related question:
I'm a law graduate but I've been programming ever since I was a kid just for the hell of it. I want to keep this a hobby- but I'm wondering how I can symbolize this tech/software dev experience in my cv? my knowledge is c/asm on a rather advanced level. mostly online game projects, successful, but nothing commercial. nevertheless i have a very thorough understanding of how professional software works internally, what it can and cannot do and since i would love to get into consulting, being able to display this as an asset would help.
Any ideas?
