Sorry Mat but a large part of good management is analysis of the subjective, common sense and instinct. If you can find a management position where decisions are based primarily on quantitative analysis, I'll eat my proverbial hat. Don't worry about "...I'm not convinced that they'll have me doing work I'll enjoy.", get a job you can do and be thankful you have one. Once you're out there in the workforce you can start making career decisions based on experience and you'll find it easier to move on, and up, because you have that experience.
Forget about WEB applications, find yourself a good recruiting firm (not a head-hunter) and convince them you have the wherewithal to be marketed by them. Go for companies like Korn/Ferry, Heidrick & Struggles, Battalia Winston, etc., and don't act like a prima donna. I wish you the best of luck, things are tough getting started. |
