Message Name: Are you happy?

In Reply To: I currently work as a business analyst in the Information Management dept of a large health care company with a great reputation but am unhappy. The people are disgruntled and have very little accountability, there is a lot of politics, management is out for themselves and I am not utilizing my complete skills set in my projects. Should I leave for a lesser known company with a similar position and similar pay in the hopes that the company culture, people and working environment will be better?
Message: That's the first question and it sounds like you've answered it. The second is, do you have somewhere better to go? Until you have a "yes" for that one, don't budge. Work in general is less pleasant now than it was a couple years ago just because the money has gotten tighter. Do research and pick a few companies that you think would be an improvement. Then send them your resume and see where it leads. Whether it's a "lesser" company or not is irrelevant except as far as it will or will not make you satisfied with your job. And don't leave because the new place "might" be better, ask them to convince you to jump ship. (But not until after you've made them want you and your skills.) Good luck.
