Consulting vs. Corp Life |

Without reservation I would suggest that if you enjoy the challenges and diversity of consulting ...stay there. Corp life is fraught with people focused on one thing...themselves. Okay maybe two...making this quarter's numbers so that they can keep their job and make the most money. The focus on doing the right thing has been lost. If I sound like a synic, I am. Companies seem less and less likely to stay the course. They are "lost in the wilderness" and are merely racing around to try and find themselves. Consulting will come back...it's just part of the cycle. Good Luck! |

Actually, I found Consulting was just as concerned with quarterly numbers as any of its clients. In fact, utilization figures and your department's realized revenues are EXTREMELY important in practice economics.
I enjoyed consulting because at least the challenges changed from engagement to engagement.
Yes, I would take any position and feel justified in leaving it for a return to consulting. In a sense, my "transitional" employer has a chance to show me a better life... if they can't offer one then I have no problem leaving when the market returns.
Company loyalty is for suckers. The only loyalty worthwhile is your loyalty to individuals you enjoy working with.
