Anyone have any ideas as to how reputation of consulting compares to that in other consulting organizations e.g. Big 5.

If you want a reputation for technical excellence in Oracle, go with the source. Big 5 has more of a rep for managerial consulting (do as I say, not as I do), and in some cases have built a rep in functional areas such as CRM.
