I'm a Senior Oracle Developer consultant with 9 years of solid experience in the U.S. I finished my project a month ago. The last two years finding new gigs via DICE worked out O.K. This time, the reponse is totally horrifying. I've tried on DICE and other job boards for new Contracts but with no solid leads so far. Especially, DICE is NOT for I.C.E's anymore - there are body shoppers, third party recruiters and all sorts of fake advertisers!
With my personal leades, I spoke with One consulting firm who's insisting me to join them full-time as a salaried consultant. I know the rates have come down ( Thanks to our Foreign Tech. workers and the hyper-aggressive body shoppers!). Does anyone think taking up a 100K salary plus benefits seems a better way than accepting a $55 an hour ( doubtful though as I've heard of rates around $40 an hour for Senior Oracle guys!).
The confusion is...is it still worthwhile pursuing a full-time with a GOOD DOT-COM hoping something might come out of the stock options in a year or so?
Please suggest any thoughts!

Before you knock those hardworking "foreign tech. workers" (as you label them), put yourself in their shoes and recheck your attitude: perhaps it isn't just your technical skills that's coming into play here, but your silly antagonistic attitude that's holding you back.
