I am in a similar position as yourself except that I have been looking since Nov. 2, 2000 and the market is really very bad (I am from Akron but now live in the Chicago Area). I have not even received the "lame temp assignments" you are getting. Alot of the problem is the region you live in and I doubt the MCSE would increase your chances except in those cases where some IT manager loves the little letters after your name. Keep looking and keep your head up -- but definetly look outside Cleveland/Akron. Maybe Dallas or Atlanta would be a good start. |

Yeah. Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only really screwed computer guy out there.
I'm considering going back to college in the fall. I can't really code or script, and perhaps if I could put scripting (not neccesarily real programming) on my resume it would help me be more marketable. Plus a degree makes me look like less of a loser.
Not leaving Akron vicinity. If I do, it'll be for the Raleigh/Durham area.
