Looking for some advice on this board and hoping someone can give me any insight.
Currently, I live and work in the DC area, IT Consultant at an extremely well know IT Mgmt consulting firm in Virginia, have 7 years of experience, Top Secret Clearance, BS and MS from reputable schools....
The issue...I want to move in the NY/NJ area (personal reasons) and looking for IT gigs in that area. Was looking internally but the opportunities are EXTREMELY slim in that region. I primarily been doing research and networking with a few folks.
The question is..How is the IT market in the NY/NJ area and with someone of my experience primarily dealing with government consulting, is there a chance for me up there. I know NY/NJ is primarily financial but I do want to move closer to that area.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Most people I know want to move away from that area...but as best as I can tell, it must be swimming with jobs, as I constantly get recruiters trying to get me to go up there. Sign up with some recruiting firms, post your resume online and expand your search outside of your network.
