I am not hurt, I am annoyed that companies are unprofessional and inconsiderate about the application process. I don't blame hitachi for their low salary ranges since that is how they choose to run their business. What I do blame them for is playing games with their hiring process and not giving me a response when I gave a polite and reasonable counter offer.
In order words, the last phone call with them I gave them my bottom line in which I offered to take a pay decrease to go to HC... they failed to give me any response till this day. After 5 interviews, 2 which caused me to miss my job, and an initial job offer, I expect a response to a very reasonable counter-offer.
I am glad that HC offered me a position but in all honesty, I had many opportunities (never went for an interview which didn't result in an offer). HC is the only employer that played the games and ended up not giving a response.
I don't know if you lack the experience, intellect, or personality/appearances -- but don't sell yourself short with HC (salary-wise). There are much better opportunites out there that offer a great culture as well.
Best of luck,

I do not believe that Hitachi had any right to treat you the way they did in the interview process.
While I am fairly inexperienced I do happen to have a conbination of skills that were needed. I do know that I could get more money elsewhere I do not believe that it is my time to go. I enjoy the people and the work that I am doing.
