Summer engineering research vs consulting internship |

This summer I have the choice between summer research at a good university, on an electrical engineering related topic, and a summer internship in a top 10 consulting firm. Which should I pick? My goal is to work in a consulting firm after college.
Do consulting firms value scientific research, or are they just interested in work experience specifically in consulting?
Note: I already have 2 summer internships from past summers under my belt. |

I, too, want to work in consulting, and all of the job postings I see specify that previous consulting experience is highly preferred. Take the consulting position; it will look nice on your resume.
