What are my chances...? |

This post originally appeared under a different topic and only received one (very helpful) response. Figured I'd try to get more input by posting in another area. (Thank you to "economist/strategist" for that response.)
I am a former operations manager with experience in the industrial and telecommunications industries. I have 10 years of experience, and a B.A. in Economics from a state university. I have decided to make a career transition into management consulting, targeting companies in the Vault Top 50 that have operations consulting practices in Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey or DC.
I have been actively networking within my local business community (in Philadelphia). However, I have not had much success in meeting consultants, much less project managers, partners or directors (probably due to their travel schedules).
I plan to apply to b-schools in the near future, and realize that the odds are against me without an MBA, but I need to know my chances of getting hired as they stand today. My immediate goal is to speak with consultants who have managerial responsibility and who can therefore assess my viability as a candidate - not just from my resume, but also from personal contact. My two questions to the Vault community are:
1) Can anyone put me in touch with senior consultants or HR recruiters who I can contact for an informational interview?
2) Does anyone have suggestions on how to make consulting company contacts locally through networking?
Thank you in advance for your help!
