Before I started I was told to expect 40 - 45 hours per week on average with occassion longer weeks required to meet client demands. That's fine and is something I can live with. But a month after I started work there in a quarterly meeting with the Managing Director (Tri)states, "We expect 55 - 60 hours a week plus from everyone in this room! That 55 - 60 hours did not include weekends. So suddenly I am working 55+ hours per week plus the occassional weekend. So my average hourly salary just dropped 25% +! That wouldn't be a problem if there was a potential for a decent bonus and the method of calculating bonuses was fair and equitable, but there isn't! The bonus at NCI DC is based on a popularity contest and who whines the loudest.
What about a Work/Life balance? Not a NCI's DC office. You should not expect a life outside of working there because there is no time for it. Then there are the cliques at Navigant DC I thougt went out after high school but if you are not accepted into one of cliques, the directors consider you a short timer.... I could go on and on.. but I got smart and left after suffering for over a year listening to promises about how they are trying to make things better. To all who work there I say good luck. To all who are thinking about working there, I encourage you to view you options long and hard before you make a decision that you may regret unless you like being overworked, underpaid, and unrecognized for the job you are doing.

You will work your A$$ off there, and Tri will expect that, but he is good at what he does, and if he thinks you're good, he will help you. If you complain and think you are going to be working 40-45 hours as a consultant, you need to find a different profession. Suck it up or go work at the library.
