I recently received an offer from Navigant Consulting and am comparing it with other offers that I have.
One of my biggest concerns is how well the company will position me for entry into a top business school. Another concern is the availability of exit opportunities.
My Navigant offer is significantly lower than other offers that I have (but which are internal consulting roles in big companies), so I'd like to look ahead and see if I should ignore that. And from what I understand, their compensation package is not negotiable, correct?
Thanks in advance. |

Everything is negotiable, to some extent. If the offer is a LOT lower, and your driving force is money, then you have likely made up your mind already. At entry level, I recommend looking for the growth opportunities between companies to be the decision factor. As for grad school, you'll have a considerably larger pool of opportunities at a consulting company (including many industries) than you would have with an internal consulting role at one company.
Regarding exit opportunities, do you mean into industry? As a more junior member of the team, your prospects to be employed with a client are lower than for someone with more experience. Having said that, if you make yourself indispensible at the end of the project and get a job offer from a client - good for you!
