In Reply To: I've just had an offer from the London office and I wouldn't say it's 15-20% low. It seems that all the top tier firms pay lower start salaries to new joiners than those companies towards the bottom end of the top 50! Think about the brand! Sarg
Message: I haven't seen enough companies to be sure, but I was fortunate enough to get 4 offers from among the top 10 (including Monitor) and the figures I have don't bear out that conclusion... To give a fairly rough figure, all offers bar Monitor's were around ??35k/year, plus sign on bonuses, pension, gym membership, season rail ticket etc (which varied between consultancies). I haven't talked about salaries with many others, but I can't imagine that lower ranked ones would be able or willing to pay as much or more than the top ones - that said, the very biggest were certainly the least open to negotiation. I did feel that Monitor's offer seemed low, especially given that average hours at each consultancy (given by management, so may not be entirely right) were pretty much the same, bar McKinsey. Monitor did seem like nice people though, so good luck! I'd be interested to know if the figures changed greatly for those with advanced degrees, or whether they're pretty standard.
