I agree with you 100%. As a long-time employee who recently departed the company, I found the poor, ineffective management to be one of my biggest reasons for leaving. From the faulty performance review to ludicrous budgeting practices to rampant spending hypocrisy, the company is shielding itself from growing competition and relying on the naive goodwill of unknowing newbies to just be glad they have a job and have a spot at the World Famous Microsoft. I'd beware... |

I have been interviewing and revieved an offer for a job offer from Avenade, an Accenture and Microsoft venture. The culture, from what I can tell, is borrowed from both of these parent companies.
The offer they made was well below my skill, education, recent and salary history. They suggested that I might want to interview for a different position that would pay more. I did and was told by the people that interviewed me that I passed the interviews. When HR got back to me they said that they didn't think I had enough of a particular qualification and wanted to know if I was still interested in the original position they offered.
Basically, they were testing me out to see if I was willing to accept the lower salary. I know I passed the interviews for the initial job and thought I had done an even better job with my interviews for the second job. They gave me feedback that said as much. But to then become "gamey" with me, asking if I am still interested in the original job offer seems innapropriate.
By the way they didn't say I couldn't have the other job--but said if I can demonstrate that I had the additional qualifications (which I did), that they would go back and consider me again for the position. No guarantees! I can have the original job...or turn it down and risk not getting either job! Ouuch.
It seems like they have an interest in hiring me since I did well in the interviews and have a substantial IT background. But they want to get me as cheaply as possible and perhaps grow me through the company. I am not a beginner. Pay people what they are worth and bring back equitable negotiation to the workplace!
