What do guys think of H&Q's M&A group?
How has it handled the merger?
Where is it heading?
Does it open doors for you--VC, grad school--after
you leave it?

They have a reputation for doing a crappy job for their clients, thinking of the fee above all else.
With the downturn in the tech IPO market, they will be flooded with internal candidates for M&A and there will be a shake-out shortly.
Add in the JPM folks and I would not want to be the new guy. Banks work on the LIFO mentality when it comes to lay-offs. Last to be hired is the first to be fired.
