I am very interested in the music industry, and am going to all measures to achieve my goal of becoming an A&R rep, have full-management of an artist(s) and one day run my own entertainment company. Yes I know that is A LOT!!! And most people are thinking "Yeah right, good luck," But already, even though I'm 20 and I am graduating early, I have made connections. I currently intern as a promotions assistant at one of the top radio stations in Orlando, FL, XL 106.7 FM (WXXL), and I am helping with a project of an upcoming "boy band" (I hate to call it that) through an entertainment company. I am learning the aspects of all what goes into a project like: auditions, choreography, production, recording sessions, etc. I am planning on volunteering at the Winter Music Conference in Miami in March, if anyone has attended this event please tell me more about it and if it's worth it. I met someone who works for a company here in Orlando called "Promo Only" and he said it was a great opportunity to meet anybody who is everybody. I also have bought several books about the music business. They talk about lawyers, contracts, touring, managers, record labels, etc. If anyone has anymore info about ANYTHING I can do more to please please email me. I am pursuing this career with a full effect and doing anything possible. I know it's a lot about "who you know" and I am lucky to have made the connections I have, but if you know of any opportunities whether you are a professional in the music industry or just getting started, please email me.
