I know I've only been with the Firm for a few years now, but I was always under the impression that BTO stood for Business Technology Office. Does this not make us a "strategy/technology" firm as well?
I did not intend to attack your post, so need to be defensive. I was merely pointing out that your post seemed somewhat one-sided.
For example, you say:
"Of course if you're really interested in doing technology slams in places you'd rather not be that would suggest that BAH would be fine."
To suggest that the commercial side of Booz does only "technology slams" is incredibly inaccurate, and I think we owed the original poster a more balanced perspective.
That being said, I do agree with your bottom line that the best choice is Mck, but for different reasons than you cite.
Finally, it must be nice to have an anonymous board like Vault to vent and shed your inhibitions. I, on the other hand, prefer to debate more directly. We can always exchange work emails/numbers and discuss my "Zen master" wisdom further...

We're wasting other people's time here as well as our own. Yes BTO stands for business technology office. And no, it doesn't make Mck a strategy/technology firm. If you don't understand that the basic nature of consulting work that is done at mck and BAH are very different, then there's nothing more to be gain by jousting.
Getting back to the chap's original question, should I take a summer job at mck or booz...after all this blah blah blah I stand by my first response:
"booz vs mck summer job? ARE YOU NUTS?"
Take the mck position. Even you agree with me.
