I think you give these firms too much credit. They probably just saw in your school's career databse that you had done consulting, saw your name in the consulting club, saw your geographic reference, etc. I seriously doubt your prior MC exp had anything to do w/ it, and your mck exp certainy didn't. |

You are most likely right.
Where I do read (too much?) into it, is that they are willing to spend quite a lot of resources on "just me": I talked to a VP (i.e. PRIN) for 30 minutes 2 days ago, and they want me to discuss with 2 other partners next week (one from PAris, one from San Francisco)...
As a side note, because I have the McK offer to return, job search is relatively unimportant to me, and my CV is just average... I would doubt they were amazed by its quality (and I did not mention the Consulting Club nor the Dean's list, for example).
