Hi all,
How often do you think former BAs switch firms after completing their MBAs?
I ask because right now (recruiting season at my MBA), I am receiving personal invitations from BCG, Bain and Booz to apply, even though they know from the CV book that I am a McK alumnus. Those invitations are truly targeted: I heard of only 3 - 5 other participants in my MBA who also received them (*).
I am curious to hear your thoughts, because I really thought there was a "pact of non-aggression" among the big firms not to pick on each other BAs...
s.
(*) of course, this is not based on all the MBA participants... it yields a 10% proportion overall, maybe...
PS: "War of talent" sounds old now, doesn't it?

As far as I know, the pact covers current employees, but not MBAs. We target BCG/Bain BAs as well, but the hit rate is pretty low. Usually ex-BAs fall into 2 camps:
1. Had enough of consulting, want to do something else
2. Want to do consulting, so plan to return to former Firm
We do have some luck with ex-BAs who want to continue in consulting but have a specialty in mind that their old Firm doesn't have (e.g., BA from Bain who want to join CF&S at McK).
