I have an initial phone interview tomorrow with McKinsey for a research analyst position. I do have an MBA with a high GPA, but it is not from a top tier B-school. I believe their interest stems from my science and research background.
What is the typical career path for a research analyst at McKinsey? What about a typical day? Most information I have been able to find highlights the associate level positions.
What should I expect in the initial phone interview? Any tips would be great. Thanks! |

A typical day is as following: you show up in the morning and do research till the cows go home. Sometimes very interesting research, sometimes not. From what I see from looking at our R&I folks, the day ends at circa 10-11 pm. Please keep in mind that you might (depending on your office) get research requests from teams in various time zones.
Career path - you do research and then you leave somewhere else to do research. Most likely banks, rating agencies, etc
