In Reply To: 2 out of my 3 final rounds I screwed up totally, so I guess the definition of "screwing up" differs greatly in the interviewers' and interviewees' prepectives. And I bet a large focus is on the way you respond, your stance, your appearance and even your handshake or smile. Further, IMHO, they look at your attitude more than anything. Since your qualifications must be very stong to get into first round, they know 45 minutes would probably serve as a less accurate indication of your technical ability than what's on your CV. What is important to them is the way u answer questions, your approach, your reaction to panicking situations... etc. And I believe that's why 9 out of 10 offerees told me they "screwed up". Maybe the interview is designed to make us screw up, and then they look at how you handle your screwups. Further, I'm not too sure about the accuracy of your "insider info". If you are really THAT weak, you probably won't be in the finals. But I guess it helps to know stuff like NPV when you're applying for FA. =) an anecdote: Recently a number of my friends interviewed for Oliver Wyman London. They found that the cases given to economic students are very science-inclined (one was given a case invloving evolution theory in biology); while those studying hard sciences were given cases with stong econ/finance components. I guess some interviews are designed to look at more than your knowledge. In terms of preparing for case studies, obviously, other posters in this board will have far greater experience than I do -- read the many case interview-related posts available. I can only give you conventional suggestions such as read Vault and Wetfeet guides (Ace the Case), do the online interactive cases from M/B/B websites and practice with fellow applicants. If you read simplified Chinese, there is a website I find very helpful, not so much on the cases but insights from Mainland consultants. The site also contains some case interview accounts from recent interviewees. http://www.cnblogs.com/case_interview Hope it helps, and good luck!
Message: I can read simplied Chinese. I figured that there're so many practical, useful sites for job seekers and graduate school applicants in China~~~ Before, it was a great site from China that helped me a great deal to prepare for GMAT~~~ Thanks Seihin~~~
