Don??t want to bad mouth Bain but their recruiting strategy/organization for APD's in North America is complete shambles.
As far as marketing themselves, I think Bain is akin to catch-words such as, ??True North??, ??Result Driven??, ??80/20??, ??Work Hard, Play Hard?? etc.
About McKinsey??s recruiting efforts--others with actual recruiting experience can comment on this but McKinsey won the recruiting excellence award in 2005 from Stanford MBAs

When I was applying for consulting positions (and this was many years ago, mind you), Bain's recruiting strategy for APDs appeared to be to show up where they were recruiting undergrads, and then invite PhD students to recruiting presentations where we were told that we could apply, but would be hired at the same level as the undergrads. Thanks, but no thanks! No idea if that's changed.
