Why not check out the website at mckinsey.com which gives lots of info.
McK is very different to audit - it is much more about problem solving and working closely with senior management of companies on their strategy etc
Btw, its also nowhere near 9-5. Its more like 8-8 on a good day, and can involve being out of town quite a lot(you could be on a project someone for 6 months and so away from Mon - Thurs during that time). It can be very interesting and rewarding, but if that doesn't fit with the 2 young kids you may be best to look elsewhere. |

Thanks for your message; as for the 9 to 5 I just meant that I am not looking for a traditional "sit in your cube and wait for the day to be over" situation. If a good part of the position involves actively working with a client and developing solutons (not just pushing paper) that would be of interest to me. Overall, I am not a "go for the throat" kind of person so that might ultimately preclude my working there, but I am drawn to the idea of really making a difference and being respected as a valued player. As for my kids, I am more than enamored with them, but when push comes to shove I need to feel that I am being the best provider for them (especially since my wife stays home with them now, so I wouldn't be as worried about them languishing in daycare all day).
