Help! Having just turned 32, married and a father of two young children I now find myself at a crossroads of personal inspiration and professional frustration. I recently completed an MBA (general degree at a small private university in the Los Angeles area), have worked in various marketing related positions since getting a BA in English in '96, and manage a mico marketing/web development agency of my own creation. Yet, I feel professionally unfulfilled and misdirected. I don't generally consider myself the 9-5 cubicle type, but really want to kick-start my career with some structure, discipline, and opportunities that have not yet availed themselves to me. Would McKinsey be somewhere to start this journey? My brother in law works for KPMG in audit - is it somewhat similar to that? Any advice and insight would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Why not check out the website at mckinsey.com which gives lots of info.
McK is very different to audit - it is much more about problem solving and working closely with senior management of companies on their strategy etc
Btw, its also nowhere near 9-5. Its more like 8-8 on a good day, and can involve being out of town quite a lot(you could be on a project someone for 6 months and so away from Mon - Thurs during that time). It can be very interesting and rewarding, but if that doesn't fit with the 2 young kids you may be best to look elsewhere.
